Stephen Fookes “The Scientist”
Stephen Fookes has had a lifetime of involvement in the wool and textile industries. Stephen was the chief executive officer of the New Zealand Wool Testing Authority for more than 32 years, following a six year period in textile research and development.
Stephen has strategized with clients worldwide to develop and manufacture wool products that align with consumer demand based on wool’s key attributes. Stephen is as passionate about wool as ever, and as a board member for the Campaign for Wool , he works to raise awareness amongst consumers about the unique, natural, and sustainable benefits of wool.
Stephen, an Australian, who has been living in New Zealand for 38 years, has relocated to Georgia, to bring Paragon Wool Products to life. The word Paragon means something that is regarded as the perfect example of a particular quality. Once you see, touch, and experience our product, you will understand its namesake, as Paragon Wool Products manufactures a superior pure wool insulation and loose fiberfill.
Ivan Phillips “The Salesman”
Ivan Phillips has 30 years of sales experience in the textile industry. Ivan has served in key sales management positions with: Milliken, BALTA, and 828 International Trading Company, all while building custom residential homes, before starting his own company, DELOS, Inc. DELOS is a manufacturer of custom aircraft carpet & area rugs. Ivan additionally owns United World Logistics, which is a fulfilment center that provides administrative services, primarily servicing the floorcovering industry.
Ivan, with a degree in mechanical engineering, was key in DELOS, Inc.’s upstart into manufacturing five years ago, having been known in the industry as an importer. Today DELOS is a prospering custom manufacturer with 21 employees that they consider family. Ivan brings his experience in sales, home building, logistics, and manufacturing to the Paragon plate.
Ivan and Leah met Stephen five years ago at the Domotex Floor Covering Show in Germany. Both Ivan and Leah were personally interested in Stephen’s patented wool insulation, being in the middle of renovating their own home, which was built in 1886. The ability to personally install and move this insulation without any protective clothing, combined with its other amazing attributes such as its ability to purify the air, and its inability to burn, made sense to them. They soon decided it only made sense to offer this eco-friendly pure wool insulation Nationwide, and so it was then that Paragon Wool Products was born.
Leah Phillips “The Marketer”
Leah Phillips was born into textiles, the daughter of a carpet retailer of 46 years. Leah has worked in various marketing and sales positions with Milliken and Shaw Industries, before joining DELOS with her husband Ivan Phillips. DELOS is a U.S. manufacturer and importer of custom aircraft carpet and area rugs.
Currently, Leah handles sales and heads up product development and marketing for DELOS. Leah feels that her most important role is that of being a mom of three. “I think that you take everything as word until you are responsible for someone else. We surround our families with so many carcinogens that we are unaware of. I cannot imagine why a mother would not choose to surround her family with wool products once they understand that wool indefinitely absorbs several of them, such as formaldehyde. I am excited to be a part of this team to bring unique wool products options to the U.S. Market.”
Philippa Wright “Partner”
Philippa is passionate about wool. She is a member of the New Zealand Campaign for Wool Trust. She also serves on the Executive Board of the NZ Wool Brokers Association and is a part of several working groups for the sustainability and product wellness in Wool on the International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO).
Philippa owns and operates Wright Wool Ltd., a wool brokering and buying company in the heart of Central Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Hawkes Bay is where some of the best wool in the world is grown. Wright Wool Ltd., is a progressively minded company, dealing directly with wool growers and connecting them as closely as possible to the end-user, thereby providing quality and affordability.
Not only was Philippa wrapped in wool when she was a baby, being the daughter of a Wool Buyer and Classer, but she also continues to wrap her family and home in it due to its unparalleled attributes. Philippa insulates her own home with wool, a common practice in New Zealand, and as such, she is excited to be a part of Paragon Wool Products, so as to bring this superior insulation and fiberfill to the U.S. market.
